What are the things Nepali Team should Focus on ?

Nepal lost to Oman and UAE with same starting eleven. So, now, its time to change the squad and take some bold decisions. Now, its all upon Coach Jagat Tamata and Skipper Paras Khadka to decide whether to go with same squad again or make some change.

Starting XI against Oman and UAE: Gyanendra Malla, Subash Khakurel, Paras Khadka, Sagar Pun, Dipendra Aire, Aarif Sheikh, Rohit Kumar Poudel, Sompal Kami, Basanta Regmi, Karan KC and Sandeep Lamichhane.

Looking at the both games, batting looked to be more fragile than bowling. Nepal’s bowling is, to some extend good, the problem is all about batting. Nepali team merely make good start in batting. And Nepal managed to post target with contribution on only one or two batsmen.

  • The opening partnership woes continued further.

Opening partnership has been major problem in this qualifier as well. The opening partnership was 31 runs in the first game whereas it was just 4 in the second match. However, in the first match Gyanendra Malla scored 45 runs and  the other opener Subash Khakurel scored 50 runs in second match. These two batsmen still not seemed to be used to with each other. Therefore, one alternatives could be give Anil Shah and Subash the opening and bringing Malla down at 3, his previous original position. But this is the rarest case. We might see the same opening pair in next game as well.

  • The middle Order

The middle order are always collapsed due to uneven run scored by top ordered batsmen. Paras Khadka (in at 3) is yet to make any impact in the team, but he is the most trustworthy one. Sagar Pun, Aarif Sheikh and Dipendra Airee are performing well. The young one, Rohit Kumar Poudel looked very poor in those two games. So, this could be the time to drop him and give the another comeback man, Binod Bhandari a chance so that he can accelerates Nepal’s score.

Similarly, changing in pace bowler looked quite necessary in the team. The Karan-Sompal pair not working properly as they only shared a wicket in first 4/6 overs spell. They were continuously failing to give breakthrough in the opening overs. Therefore, giving chance to Lalit Bhandari could be a choice.
