Unstoppable Nepal thumped Thailand by 140 runs

Nepali cricket team once again produced a whooping victory in their third match of ICC World Twenty20 Asia Region Qualifier B in Malaysia. Nepal defeated Thailand by huge margin of 140 runs.

Chasing the target of 173, set by Nepali batsmen, Thailand were 18/9 in 8.5 overs before rain interrupted the match. Then Nepal won the match by 140 runs in D/L method.

In the match, it was Thailand who won the toss and invited Nepal to bat first. Nepali batsman, specially middle orders, didn’t get chance to bat in their previous two matches were delighted to bat first. However, one again the opening Nepali pairs failed.  Binod Bhandari was caught out in the third over with 15 runs. Though Nepal lost the wickets, the run rate was significant.

Nepal’s inning collapsed somewhere in the middle with Captain and Vice Captain returning pavilion very cheaply. While Nepal were toiling with 128/7 in 17.2 overs, then came in Karan KC. He was on fire. He quickly ignited Nepal’s inning with quickfire 40 runs just 14 balls. He smashed 4 sixes and two fours.

Chasing the target of 173, Thailand batsmen struggled from the very first ball of the second inning. They lost their wickets in quick succession. Sandeep Lamichhane once again showed his class of bowling by grabing 5 wickets, bowling only 3 overs. Similarly, Karan KC also grabbed 3 wickets from 1.5 overs. Hence, Karan KC was adjusted man of the match for his brilliant contribution in both batting and Bowling.

Now Nepal will take on Bhutan in October 9.
