Nepali National football team is set to play a friendly match against Afghanistan football team in November 14. The match will be played in Nepal. Similarly, All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has also invited Thailand and Myanmar to play a friendly with Nepal in Nepal. The match will be played at ANFA Complex Ground, Satdobato, Lalitpur. This will be the first friendly match for Nepal in home ground in two years.
According to ANFA Spokesperson Kiran Rai, Afghanistan friendly is fixed and process has been already started for other two friendlies as well (Thailand and Myanmar). The later friendlies will be in December, according to Rai. He added that, rather than sending National team to foreign, letting them play in own soil was prioritized. Therefore, this initiations were taken.
Nepal had lost to Afghanistan in their previous two meetings. Nepal has lost to the Afghans side back in 2011 SAFF Championship semi final. Afghanistan had sealed the match with a goal in Additional extra time. Similarly, Nepal lost in 2013 SAFF Championship semi final which was conducted in Nepal. So, there will be a chance to avenge the defeats for Nepali football team.
Nepali Football team is taking part in Asian Games from August 14. And soon after the completion of that even, Nepali football team will travel to Bangladesh to take part in SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018. Then after, those friendlies will be played in Nepal. This is the first friendly match for National team in home soil after a charity match against Japan XI back in 2016.
