Nepal lost their first ever ODI game against Netherlands

After a brilliant start with bowling, Nepal failed to begin their ODI campaign with a win as Nepal was defeated by Netherlands by 55 runs. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Netherlands had managed to make 189 runs on the boards batting for 47.4 overs. And chasing the target of 189 in 50 overs, Nepal were all out in just 134 runs with 49 balls remaining. Playing in their first ever ODI match, Nepali Cricket Team failed to made this day more memorable with a win.

Chasing the target of 189, Nepal were in good state as the openers Gyanendra Malla and Anil Kumar Shah shared 58 runs for the first wicket. Nepal once were at 85 for 1. However, soon after the fall of Gyanendra Malla, Nepali batsmen kept on losing the wickets in regular intervals. Gyanendra Malla top scored for Nepal scoring 51 runs from 61 balls. His 51 runs cameo included 8 boundaries. He became the first Nepali batsman to score a ODI half Century. Dipendra Singh Airee socred 33 runs from 48 balls while Anil Shah made 21 runs from 32 balls. Four of the Nepali batsmen were duck out. They were Sompal Kami, Arif Sheikh, Basanta Regmi and Karan KC. Sarad Veswakar came at no. 11 to bat as he was injured earlier in the first inning.

In the first inning, Nepali bowlers were at the peak as they managed to restrict the host within 189 runs. In the inning, Captain Paras Khadka took 4 wickets while Sompal Kami took 3 wickets. Similarly, he also became the first Nepali player to take a wicket in ODI Match. Karan KC, Basanta Regmi and Sandeep Lamichhane took 1-1 wickets each.

Now, Nepal will play their second ODI against the same team in 3rd of August.
