Nepal lost its opener against Tajikistan in Bangabandhu Gold Cup

Nepal lost their opening match of fifth Bangabandhu Gold Cup 2018 against Tajikistan. Nepal lost 2-0 to Tajikistan.  Nepal is the defending champions of the tournament.

With very slow start, Nepal went on to concede a penalty in the 27th minute. Fathullo Fathulloev easily converted the spot kick in goal to put themselves in front. In the 72th minute, Tajikistan doubled their lead through Komron Tursunov’s goal.

Nepali team lost their skipper Biraj Maharjan when he was injured and was replaced by Suman Aryal. Then, Nirajan Khadka had put on the arm band.

Nepal will play their second match in October 6. Among three teams group, top two will advance to the semi final.

With the loss, Nepal’s face a tough challenge in their way to defend the title.
