Nepali football team showed an impressive display against Bhutan to thump them 4-0 in the second match of SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018. After losing the first game to Pakistan, Nepal team was in the compulsion to win the game in order to go through the group stage.
Ananta Tamang gave Nepal the lead in the 21st minute of the match with a superb header thanks to the brilliant corner from Sunil Bal. In the 70th minute, Nepal was awarded a penalty kick after Nirazan Khadka was brought down. However, Bimal Magar’s spot kick was blocked but Sunil Bal scored in the rebound. Nima Wangdi of Bhutan was given the second yellow card and Bhutan played rest of their 30 minutes with 10-men.
In those 30 minutes, Bhutan conceded three goals. The super sub Bharat Khawas scored a brilliant goal in the 79th minute to make it 3-0 for Nepal. As the match was heading towards the final minute, Nirazan Khadka scored the fourth goal for Nepal in the 88th minute.
Nepal’s skipper Biraj Maharjan became the Nepali player with the highest capped player when he was brought in in the 84th minute.
Nepal will now play their last group game against Bangladesh on 8th September. Nepal must win that game to go through group stage easily.
