Nepali cricket team easily defeated the host Malaysia in their second match of 2018 ICC World T20 Asian Eastern Sub Regional Qualifier. Nepal defeated Malaysia by eight wickets with 44 balls remaining.
Winning the toss, Malaysia opted to bat first and Nepali bowlers destroyed the Malaysian middle order. They had a descent start but were unable to capitalized when Sandeep Lamichhane came into attack. Sandeep Lamichhane provided two quick wickets in his first over of his spell.
Sandeep Lamichhane took five wickets, bowling his four overs. He finished with the figure of 4-0-20-5. Sompal Kami grabbed three wickets whereas skipper Paras Khadka took one wicket. One of Malaysian batsman was run out. Malaysia were all out in 19.3 overs with 100 runs on the board.
Chasing the target of 101 runs, Nepal couldn’t made a good start. Nepal lost its opener batsman Anil Shah (1) in the second over and and Binod Bhandari (12) was caught in the sixth over. Then came in the pair of Paras Khadka and Gyanendra Malla. Their partnership took Nepal to its second victory of the qualifier campaign. Khadka made unbeaten 52 runs from 37 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Similarly, Gyanendra Malla made 27 off 24 with 2 fours and a six.
Nepal completed the chase in just 12.4 overs to register second win and climb to top of the table.
Nepal will take on Thailand tomorrow in their next match.
