Nepali cricket team pull out an impressive victory against Bloomfield in Sri Lanka. Nepal defeated Bloomfield Cricket club by 176 runs in DLS method at Bloomfield Cricket Ground. The match was stopped due to bad light in the stadium. However, nine batsmen from Bloomfield were already out. It was Sagar Pun, whose all round performance helped Nepal to earn this easy victory.
Winning the toss, Nepal skipper Paras Khadka opted to bat first. Subash Khakurel and Anil Kumar Shah opened the inning for Nepal. The openers could not give the desired start as Nepal lost Anil Shah with just 22 runs on the board. Similarly, the other opener Khakurel played 27 dots against 33 total balls he faced. Nevertheless, the brilliant 185-runs partnership between Dipendra Airee and Sagar Pun solidifies Nepal’s inning. Airee scored 121 runs from 96 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes. Similarly, Pun made 92 runs from 83 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes.
In the second inning, Nepali bowlers were even more aggressive as Bloomfield were struggling to score runs. Sagar Pun, who was just 8 runs less for his century shone with ball as well. He took 3 wickets, bowing 8 overs. Similarly, Lalit Bhandari took 2 wicktes, Lalit Rajbanshi, Paras Khadka and Basanta Regmi grabbed a wicket each. Bloomfield were at 134/9 in 38 overs when the match was called off due to poor light in the stadium.
Nepal will now play their final warm up match in 26th August against Kolts before traveling to Malaysia. Malaysia is hosting Asia Cup Qualifiers from 29th of August.
