Nepal wrapped up their Sri Lanka tour with all three wins in three Warm Up matches in Sri Lanka. Nepal defeated Colts Cricket Club by 5 wickets. Nepal had previously defeated Army Club in Sri Lanka in the first match and Bloomfield in the second warm up match.
Colts Cricket Club won the toss and and opted to bat first. They were all out with 216 runs on the board in 49.5 overs. Sompal Kami took 3 wickets for Nepal whereas Karan KC and Sagar Pun took 2-2 each. Lalit Rajbanshi took a wicket. The two batsmen were run out.
In return, Nepal made a good start in comparison to previous two warm up matches. Gyanendra Malla and Subash Khakurel made the opening partnership of 42 runs. Subash Khakurel was bowled in 22 runs from 23 balls. Similarly, Gyanendra Malla and Skipper Paras Khadka together made 88 runs partnership. Their partnership lifted Nepal from 42/1 to 130/2. Gyanendra Malla made 45 runs from 65 balls with 4 fours. Paras Khadka made 58 runs from 57 balls. He hit 6 fours and a maximum.
Sagar Pun (5) and Binod Bhandari (1) were cheaply out. It was Dipendra Airee and Arif Sheikh who ensured Nepal’s victory. Dipendra Airee, who scored 121 runs in previous match, got his half century today. He scored 52 runs from 53 balls with 5 fours and two sixes. Similarly, Aarif Sheikh scored 23 runs from 38 balls.
Now, Nepali team will travel to Malaysia for Asia Cup Qualifiers slated from 29th of August. Nepal will take on Oman in their first match on the opening day.
